2002 Theme: The Floating World

Our journey to the base

2002 was the best year for overall impression (The event theme was 'The Floating World' and we really looked spectacular from a distance with our functional art and Mark's Lionfish as the centerpiece of our camp) and the first year I really began to realize my dream of a true black light themed environment.

Moving ever so much closer to a 100% art camp, but I'm foreshadowing.

The camp was 250' wide by 150' deep. From a distance the lampposts looked like dragonflies and the Lionfish was always swimming around. Than as you got closer you saw the beautiful shade structures, and when you entered them, especially Ttok, you felt like you were inside a sea organism, as it breathed, swaying in the wind.

It was pretty cool and we were out of the way; people had to work to get out to see us and we had a lot of people who had to come and enjoy our space repeatedly. A photographer was so enthralled he took images and had them printed up on postcards. He has since sought us out year after year and I'm pleased to now call him a friend.
